FIORE INDUSTRIES 2007 COMBINED PRESS RELEASES

Fiore was awarded a contract by the Department of the Interior’s Office of Special Trustee to develop and provide data base support.  The mission of the Office of the Special Trustee for the American Indians (OST) is to provide oversight, reform and coordination of the policies, procedures, systems and practices used by various agencies to manage Indian trust assets. This mission is integrated in the Department of the Interior's (DOI) goal of meeting its responsibilities to American Indians. The OST Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for Information Technology (IT) for OST nationwide and directs IT support services including technical support, capital planning and acquisition of IT equipment, IT security, electronic and hard copy records management activities, and computer system activity.  The OST CIO provides and maintains a Trust Portal to enable OST, and soon Bureau of Indian Affairs, employees a “one-stop” means to perform the mission-critical functions of providing beneficiaries with timely, concise, and accurate information about their individual accounts.  This project is unique in the fact that the facility is not allowed internet or other external electronic access and data bases reside in various locations.  Fiore is developing the system to capture information from several data bases for use into one form for customer support.

Fiore was awarded a contract by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to develop a lightweight portable rescue tool.  DARPA has requested that Fiore develop an integrated energy storage, power transmission, and end effector technology that will enable a rescue spreader with a total system weight of less than 25 lb. The need for a rescue spreader capability during ground vehicle and aircraft accident rescue operations is critical since victims are often trapped within a metal vehicle frame that is too strong to be bent with human powered pry bars.  Fiore is designing and will demonstrate the feasibility of producing light weight rescue tools using solid propellant cool gas generators as the energy source.  While there have been a number of advances in space based applications and the commercialization of solid propellant cool gas generators by the Europeans, work in the US has been limited largely to fire suppression.  Fiore is defining practical methods of implementing and controlling the gas generation process to fully realize the unique benefits this technology for “long storage” “single use” applications that include:
• Modular energy source
• No maintenance required
• Greater than 10 year storage life
• Rugged simple solid state components, no leakage
• Clean gas output - people, environment and equipment
` friendly
• Gas output at low temperatures without extra cooling
 devices
• Weight and size efficient
• Safe
• High reliability

Fiore was awarded a follow-on contract by the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) National Institute of Justice (DOJ’s technology development agency) for continued development of the high powered microwave vehicle stopper.  Building on the effects database developed under a Phase I effort, the Phase II effort involves the design and construction of a suitable microwave source, integration of the source into a pursuit vehicle, and conducting laboratory and open-road tests to evaluate system effectiveness.

The Airborne Laser Program Office awarded a contract to Fiore to design, fabricate, deliver, install and provide functional checkout of the Two Loop Cooled Water System (TLCWS) to be located in the LAB 121, Hangar 760 on Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque New Mexico.  The chiller unit was critical for the program to stay on schedule with developmental engineering activities.

Fiore was also awarded three separate contracts to design and manufacture components for high powered microwave devices (accelerators, reltrons) for use in experiments and research and development activities for several commercial customers

Fiore was awarded a contract for information technology and data base development for a Navy program under development at the Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque New Mexico.

Fiore was awarded a task order contract to provide information technology across a wide spectrum of disciplines and technical areas.  This contract is designed to support not only all State of New Mexico offices, but also all State universities and any office associated with the State.
